The Dilworth Home Tour is an annual tour exploring home design, architecture, and the overall culture of Charlotte’s Dilworth neighborhood.
Seven homes will be open for viewing during this year’s Home Tour, according to the
event website
. Explore architectural styles ranging from a classic Craftsman bungalow to an American Foursquare, and even a renovated condominium. We spoke with a few of our
real estate agents
who live, work, and play in Dilworth about what guests can experience this weekend.
“Dilworth is the best of all worlds,” explains
Lauren Dayton
. “It’s an established neighborhood with historic homes, a large tree canopy and a touch of urban. All within walking distance to dozens of restaurants, coffee shops, and workout facilities while being surrounded by green space. If you can't walk to it, you can walk to the light rail and easily pick your adventure for the day.”
This year’s featured homes are 1901 Dilworth Road East, 611 Kingston Avenue, 1708 Park Road, 831 E Worthington Avenue, 1009 Mt. Vernon, 1915 Springdale Avenue and 1641 Dilworth Road West. The Tour will be held Friday, September 13 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 14 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Homes may be toured in any order on both days.
“They really pick houses with a wow factor for the Tour,” says
Libby Gonyea
. “You might pull up to a smaller bungalow and then you walk inside and you’re just blown away. You’ll see lots of old homes that have been totally renovated, which are my favorite because they are so unassuming.”
Lisa Donovan
will be volunteering at 1708 Park Road on Saturday afternoon and says that this year’s tour features historic homes that have been renovated for today’s lifestyle, yet maintain the architectural features you would expect in a historic Dilworth home.
“The historic homes here in Dilworth are so unique,” says Donovan. “Quirky is a good thing!”
While visiting the Home Tour, it’s a great idea to grab dinner or drinks around the neighborhood to really catch the Dilworth vibe. Donovan’s go-to is
Bonterra
, which she describes as “stunning inside with perfect outdoor seating when the weather is nice.”
Gonyea suggests anywhere on East Blvd for a bite to eat or glass of wine, specifically naming
300 East
,
Fran’s Filling Station
, or
Foxcroft Wine.
Tickets and more information can be
found online
. Proceeds support the Dilworth Community Association’s efforts to serve Dilworth and its neighbors. Guests are encouraged to walk, bike, or scooter to the homes because of limited parking availability.
Dilworth is Charlotte’s oldest streetcar suburb, known for its renovated bungalows, leafy parks, tree-lined streets, and historic homes. To find more Dilworth homes and happenings, visit our
