Talking Fort Mill with Geri Mullinix

Helen Adams Realty is excited to announce that they will open an office in the Fort Mill market in the spring of 2019. The firm currently has offices in Ballantyne, Cornelius and on Randolph Road. They are thrilled to bring their services to Fort Mill, which the US Census Bureau recently named the nation’s fastest growing city.

To manage the Fort Mill office, Helen Adams Realty has hired Geri Mullinix as Broker-in-Charge. Geri has worked in residential real estate in Lake Norman, Charlotte and South Carolina communities for 13 years. She served as Broker-in-Charge for the Keller Williams, Fort Mill Market Center; as an Assistant Team Leader for the Keller Williams, Ballantyne Market Center, and as District Director/Broker-in-Charge for Fathom Realty.

We sat down with Geri to learn what makes her tick and find out what makes the Fort Mill area so special.

HAR: So why real estate? What led you into the industry?

Geri: When my daughter, Amanda, started middle school I was ready to re-enter the job market full time. My previous experience was in sales and education but I wanted something a little different. I started working as a bookkeeper for a real estate firm in 2004. When the Office Manager was starting real estate classes I thought “why not?” I loved my classes and found the material interesting. I received my license in 2005 and was off & running! I love that every day is different and there is always something new to learn.

HAR: What’s your favorite part of the business?

Geri: The lifelong learning is my favorite part of the business. Every transaction is different. You meet new people - clients, agents, vendors, attorneys, etc. The contract terms are never the same. You need to be a skillful negotiator & effective communicator throughout the transaction. The thrill comes when the process works and the client gets to the closing table. I learn something from every transaction - both my own & those of agents I coach.

HAR: What makes Fort Mill so special? Many businesses have moved down there and there’s definitely a lot of new construction and growth, but what’s at the heart of the town that attracts people to stay there and put down roots?

Geri: I believe it is the sense of community in spite of tremendous growth. A  highly rated school district with local support is certainly a draw. Numerous charming neighborhoods with varying price points & amenities appeal to newcomers. The Anne Springs Close Greenway, nearby Lake Wylie, recreational opportunities, sporting events, a growing restaurant scene & small locally owned businesses are part of the appeal.  Fort Mill is also close to Charlotte. Residents can enjoy all the city has to offer and a reasonable commute time. It is truly a pleasure to live in Fort Mill.

HAR: What’s your favorite thing to do in the Fort Mill area?

Geri: I enjoy spending time exploring all Fort Mill has to offer with my husband Dan & friends. We like to  try new restaurants, check out local breweries, attend events at Anne Springs Close Greenway and shop local businesses. Fort Mill has grown rapidly and there is always something new to investigate.

We’re excited to have Geri on board at Helen Adams. Until our office opens next spring, Geri will be serving as our Assistant Sales Manager, working with our Brokers-in-Charge to help coach and grow agent careers.
